Street Dance, also known as hip-hop, covers a wide umbrella of different styles, from popping and locking to breaking and Krump. The culture of Street Dance is one of sharing and developing, both as individuals and as a community, and this is the environment that will be encouraged at Dramacube.
We will focus on the different ways we can move our bodies, exploring popping, waving and breaking and establishing foundations in these areas. We will then sample further styles, including waacking and locking, and the group as a whole will decide on three styles to continue with for the remainder of the term.
The outcomes of these sessions will be a sound knowledge of three foundation styles, knowledge of the history behind these styles, the confidence to both dance and freestyle in front of others, and an increased awareness of the performance required during shows.
